Novels and Tea Shops

I stayed up late last night because I couldn’t sleep. Insomnia? No, I suddenly had a muse to write. So I wrote an 800 or so word story full of angst. Anyway…

We went shopping today. There’s a nice tea place near Serai’s apartment and so all of us went to buy some. I’ve never seen so much variety! I bought I nice box of Jasmine tea and some Japanese tea as well.

We went to a cafe that was close by for lunch. Nice, quiet, everyone was so cheerful! Hmm, now that I think of it, Justice didn’t seem to enjoy himself so much. Actually, he doesn’t seem to like here at all which is saddening; Parin Sound is such a beautiful place!

We went home after the cafe lunch and Miles headed straight for the kitchen to check on his pumpkins. I think he realized he forgot to buy candles at this point because he went through the cupboards looking for something to place inside the pumpkins.

I bought some earrings for Alyiene Curlis’ birthday. (Shh, don’t tell anyone) Hopefully she’ll like them.

I finished reading Im Westen nichts Neues. It’s as brilliant as I always thought it would be; as great as the movie itself. Mr. Remarque is a genius author.

And something else about novel reading: Serai’s been reading Lolita and I can almost see her cringing at certain parts of the novel. It’s ultra-disturbing but oh-so-good at the same time. Vladimir Nabokov has a very interesting sense of humour.

Anna is constantly taking out her sketch book and learning from Alyiene Curlis. The two artists do have a language barrier but I guess art is the same in any language. Anna emailed Wright’s daughter again today, but this time I had Miles translate. I can’t be bothered to help her. And besides, I translated yesterday!

Halloween will be here soon. Costume making/buying are all underway. I’ve said this before, but I’m always myself for Halloween. It’s really the only thing I can pull off. Serai’s costume is cute and Justice…? Well, I see that Klavier Gavin convinced him not only to buy the detective garb but Justice has even given in to wearing it for the Hollow Square celebrations.

We heard from Kirth that there is a pumpkin carving section for the Halloween festivities at Hollow Square. Miles is very happy to know that. He’s also excited but for a man of his standing, he feels showing this is very embarrassing. No matter, come Halloween, Miles will definitely be with the pumpkins throughout the night.

We had a nice dinner at home again. I feel a bit bad because the entire conversation was in German. When Klavier translates, he purposely leaves out things he doesn’t want Justice to hear, and I don’t think Alyiene Curlis understands it too well. I think Serai told me she took a year of it in school…?

I need to make sure Justice enjoys himself here before we leave. I know he doesn’t like me too much but what’s the point of vacation if you don’t have fun?

  1. ...Yes Lolita is quite interesting... it is also pretty good.

  2. Nabokov is a brilliant author... though Humbert's character is a tad strange/insane/pedophilic the story and message is deep.
