A Spot of Trouble

Sophia and her husband called us yesterday when we returned from our museum trip. (I successfully managed to avoid Anna and Miles for most of our day at the museum.) Apparently, they’ve run into a bit of trouble and must stay longer than planned in Berlin.

How unfortunate. I had suspected as much though; when Miles was in Berlin, he had told me there probably would be trouble for Sophia. A fan magazine about her and her books found her hotel, and now they are crowding around the building waiting for her. Her husband is not pleased. Luckily, the crowds have no way of knowing what room they are in and so as long as Sophia and her husband stay put, they’ll be fine.

Anna isn’t thrilled with the idea of staying longer than necessary with us. And to be completely frank, I’m not happy either. There are only so many things that Miles and I can do to keep her entertained. Anna’s already seen every movie worth seeing in the cinema and the ballet doesn’t start up until November. Miles wanted to see a Mozart concert at the Munich Opera House but our schedules don’t match up.

And so although we had originally planned to be away for the last week of October, we may have to leave a bit early.

We don’t know how long Sophia and her husband will be staying in Berlin for. They were supposed to stay for the week, meaning Anna was supposed to leave us on Saturday; however I’m not so sure about that now. They haven’t been able to leave the hotel all day yesterday and today they are still waiting.

They are two days behind schedule, and I suspect more delays as well. What this means is that Anna will be staying until the 22nd at least.

Miles, being the kind of caring and helpful person he is, offered to Sophia and her husband something I rather detest. He told them we would be glad to take Anna to LA and then to Parin Sound so that their second honeymoon would still be enjoyable. Sophia was against it, knowing how horribly Anna and I get along. Her husband, however, thought it was a great idea and jumped at the chance. Thank you, Miles Edgeworth. You’ve really made my day… no, you’ve made my entire month a whole lot happier.

So Sophia and her husband get to enjoy a three week (almost a month) long honeymoon in a hotel building surrounded by people who are waving Sophia’s books outside her balcony. What fun. Now I’m not usually the type of person who likes Schadenfreude, but I can’t help in feeling some happiness at their predicament. If I can convince myself Sophia’s husband is having a horrible time, I might be able to survive Anna, Miles and company in LA.

And speaking of LA, Wright called us this morning. Miles has always told him to call collect so that he wouldn’t have to pay for long distance calls. Another wonderfully caring move by the great Miles Edgeworth that will surely backfire on him on day. Anyway, Wright called to let us know of my friend Serai’s visit, and to thank us for the free advertisement of his Talent Agency. I honestly do not know why he doesn’t retake the LSAT. It’ll be easier his second time around, yes?

We’ll be leaving on the 20th for LA and staying the week before rerouting to Parin Sound. hopefully Wright will be able to beat some sense into Anna; I’m no good at keeping children entertained, how he manages to raise Trucy all by himself is beyond me.

Time to rebook our flight to LA.
